Abstract:
Atmospheric particulates were collected from different typical pollution sources in Jinan, and were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and elecrton-spinning resonance (ESR).Stimulant acid rain was used to rinse the particulates, and the concentrations of heavy metals of Pb, Zn, Ni and V were measured. The results showed that sulfur in the particulate from thermal power station exsisted in the forms of SO3, SO42- , SO2 , SO32- and S.The states of sulfur in Shandong university (representing the resident area) is nearly similar with those of power plant; in iron steel plant and coke processing, sulfur is mainly in the forms of SO42- and S2- ; in oil refining plant, sul-fur in the forms of SO42- and SO2.However ,in the inner layers of all the atmospheric par-ticulates, sulfur is only in the form of SO42-.There exist some heavy metals of Ni and V apparently on the surface of particulate from oil processing plant, while on the surface of other particulates, heavy metals are mainly Pb and Zn.Some radicals are derected by ESR on the particulate except that from iron and steel plant. The radical is probably caused by coal combustion. In the rinsing solutions of particulates from power station, steel company and Shandong university, the heavy metals are mainly Pb and Zn,and only a little Ni and V were detected, while in the washed solution of particulate from oil pro-cessing plant, besides a little Pb and Zn, much more V and Ni were detected. All the re-sults suggest that air pollution in Jinan is still coal-smoke typed. However, air pollution from oil processing should not be englected.
